This book is a personal & historical narrative. The ghost stories are about individuals that are a part of the market’s history. Interwoven with the stories are historical references to events related to the hauntings. The stories are not for the very young and include information about brothels, graveyards and serial killers in Seattle. I gave ghost tours of the market for 16 years - this is the culmination of my research and experiences. Since first publishing it in 2009 I have sold over 6,000 copies. This edition was edited and revised during the stay at home orders 2020. - Mercedes

The Pike Place Market opened in 1907. In that year, lung infections and influenza topped the list as causes of death in the United States. Two out of every ten people could not read or write, and most doctors received no formal medical training. Seattle’s male population greatly outnumbered its female and the Klondike Gold Rush was in full force. The market opened on top of a broad hill above the waterfront in a district filled with hotels. One block away, graves from the former Denny Hotel Cemetery had been recently moved.
